Since most pipe fittings are used for welding, to improve welding quality, the ends are beveled, leaving a certain angle and edge. This requirement is quite strict, with regulations specifying the edge thickness, angle, and tolerance range. The surface quality and mechanical properties are basically the same as the pipes. For ease of welding, the steel grade of the fittings is the same as that of the pipes being connected.
All pipe fittings undergo surface treatment. The iron oxide scale on the inner and outer surfaces is removed by shot blasting, followed by the application of anti-corrosion paint. This is necessary for export, and also for domestic transport to facilitate rust and oxidation prevention.
Regarding packaging requirements, for small pipe fittings, such as those for export, wooden crates of approximately 1 cubic meter are required. The standard stipulates that the number of elbows in such crates cannot exceed one ton. Nesting (larger fittings inside smaller ones) is allowed, but the total weight generally cannot exceed one ton. Larger fittings (e.g., 24" sizes) must be individually packaged. Additionally, packaging markings must indicate dimensions, steel grade, batch number, manufacturer's trademark, etc.
